This statement marks one of the clearest articulations of the standards Aranda faces, as McNamee highlighted the need for a revitalized commitment from fans and stakeholders, including increased attendance at games and financial support for initiatives like NIL and scholarships.
Aranda's current record at Baylor stands at 36-37, with the team experiencing a decline since their successful 2021 season, which included a Big 12 championship and a Sugar Bowl victory. The Bears have since recorded three losing seasons out of the last four, finishing with a 5-7 record in 2025 and missing out on a bowl game.
McNamee, who took over the athletic department in December, noted that 2026 would be his first full evaluation of Aranda, following a transitional period under former AD Mack Rhoades. He indicated that the program must demonstrate clear direction and restore confidence to justify continued investment from the university community.
