Texas Christian University has officially added Northwestern State to its 2028 football calendar. The matchup will occur at Amon G. Carter Stadium on Saturday, September 2, 2028. According to a contract secured via public records request, TCU will pay the Demons a $600,000 guarantee for the appearance.
This contest marks only the second time these two programs have faced each other. Their previous meeting took place in 2001, when Northwestern State defeated TCU 27-24 in overtime. The addition of this game completes the Horned Frogs' non-conference slate for the upcoming season.
Before playing the Demons, TCU opens its campaign at home against Louisiana on August 26. The team then travels to Duke on September 9. While the Big 12 Conference has not yet released specific conference opponents for 2028, TCU is projected to play five home games and four road games that year.
Northwestern State University, located in Natchitoches, Louisiana, competes in the Football Championship Subdivision as part of the Southland Conference. The Demons are currently coached by Blaine McCorkle and have begun their season with losses to Louisiana Christian and Louisiana Tech. In addition to the TCU game, Northwestern State is scheduled to host Central Arkansas on September 16, 2028.
