TCU Athletics has fully restored media credentials for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, concluding a conflict that began after the newspaper's coverage of a locker room incident involving safety Jacob Fields. The university announced the reinstatement on September 4, attributing the resolution to constructive discussions between both parties.

The disagreement originated from a report by Star-Telegram reporter Steven Johnson on August 18, which detailed rising tensions in the locker room and suggested that coaches failed to address the situation adequately. The report indicated that TCU's head coach Sonny Dykes was not aware of the seriousness of the players' conflicts.

Following the article's publication, TCU officials revoked the newspaper's credentials, citing alleged threats made against sophomore receiver Dozie Ezukanma, who was punched by Fields.

The incident occurred on August 13, when Ezukanma claimed in an Instagram video that Fields struck him, causing him to hit his head and lose consciousness. He also alleged that Fields kicked him. A report confirmed that a TCU football staff member notified campus police the next day.

Fields was subsequently dismissed from the team and charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury after turning himself in to Tarrant County police on August 30. He was released later that day after posting a $50,000 bond. During the credential suspension, Johnson covered TCU's season opener against North Carolina from the stands in Dublin, Ireland.
