The Houston Texans have signed defensive tackle Junior Tafuna to their practice squad, as announced on X by the team. This move marks Tafuna's return to the Texans after he was waived on August 5 and subsequently claimed by the New York Jets the following day.

Tafuna, who is 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 305 pounds, originally joined the Texans as an undrafted free agent in 2025. During his collegiate career at Utah, he recorded 108 combined tackles, 7.5 sacks, 15 tackles for loss, three fumble recoveries, two interceptions, and one forced fumble over four seasons.

Despite being released by the Jets during their roster cutdown, Tafuna's signing adds depth to the Texans as they aim for a Super Bowl run this season. NFL analyst Lance Zierlien noted that while Tafuna may lack some of the desired traits for interior defenders, his athleticism and gritty play style could make him an intriguing asset for the team.

Further updates regarding Tafuna's role and performance with the Texans are expected as the season progresses.
