The Houston Texans are bringing back running back Dare Ogunbowale ahead of Week 4, adding him to the 53-man roster after a short stint with the Las Vegas Raiders. Sports Illustrated reported the move, citing Jonathan M. Alexander of the Houston Chronicle.
Ogunbowale spent the previous four seasons with Houston, from 2022 through 2025, appearing in more than 60 games. His role was primarily on special teams, though he also recorded 91 rushing attempts for 295 yards and three touchdowns during that span.
The Texans’ leading running back roles are expected to remain with David Montgomery and Woody Marks, while British Brooks could also be ahead of Ogunbowale in the weekly offensive pecking order. The source described the signing as a depth move that is not expected to substantially change the top of the position group.
One possible reason for the addition is an injury within the current running back room, although the status of Houston’s players for Week 4 was not yet clear because injury information was expected after Wednesday’s practice. The Texans also could be adding a player with special teams experience and additional depth, according to the report.
