Woody Marks is expected to divide backfield duties fairly evenly with David Montgomery for the upcoming NFL season, according to Jonathan Alexander of the Houston Chronicle. While the exact split may not be a perfect 50-50, it is anticipated to be close, as both players have been utilized similarly during training camp.
Alexander noted that the Texans are likely to adopt a hot-hand strategy, allowing the running back who performs better each week to take the lead. In the Texans' second preseason game, Marks played 10 snaps, rushing four times for a total of 37 yards and scoring one touchdown.
He also caught a pass for six yards while working with the first-team offense, as Montgomery was rested during that game.
Despite Marks' strong performance, he is currently being drafted significantly later than Montgomery in fantasy leagues, nearly five rounds apart. Further details regarding the exact distribution of carries throughout the season are not yet clear.
