DJ Lagway, a highly regarded quarterback, has transferred from the University of Florida to Baylor University following a challenging season. Lagway, who was the No. 3 ranked player in his class, initially stepped into a starting role at Florida after Graham Mertz's injury, leading the team to a 5-1 record in the final games of the season.

However, Lagway's second season did not meet expectations. He struggled with injuries and performance issues, resulting in a disappointing season for both him and the Gators, who finished with a 4-8 record. After throwing five interceptions in a loss to LSU and facing mounting pressure, Lagway decided to enter the Transfer Portal in search of a new opportunity.

He has now joined Baylor, where he will be coached by Dave Aranda. Lagway's debut with the Bears will be against Auburn, a game that is seen as crucial for both him and the program, which is looking to rebound from a 5-7 season.

Tim Tebow, a former Florida quarterback, commented on Lagway's transfer during an appearance on 'The Paul Finebaum Show'. He stated that Lagway needed a new environment to thrive, emphasizing that the pressure he faced at Florida was overwhelming and that there was insufficient support around him.

Tebow expressed optimism about Lagway’s potential at Baylor, suggesting that a change in scenery could allow him to play with more joy and perform at his best.

As Lagway prepares for his first game with Baylor, the outcome against Auburn could significantly impact perceptions of both the quarterback and the Bears as they look to build momentum heading into the season.

The game is scheduled to take place at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, kicking off at 3:30 PM (ET) on ABC.
