The Houston Texans have added wide receiver Mitchell Tinsley to their practice squad, according to a report from The 33rd Team’s Ari Meirov on August 31. Tinsley, a 26-year-old player standing 6 feet 1 inch tall, previously played for the Cincinnati Bengals, where he recorded 8 receptions for 116 yards and 2 touchdowns last season.
His departure from the Bengals comes as the team has a deep wide receiver roster, prompting interest from multiple teams.
In response to Tinsley’s signing, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic noted that Tinsley sees a better opportunity for playing time in Houston, where the team has been actively seeking depth at the wide receiver position following an injury to Jayden Higgins, who suffered a torn ACL.
The Texans have also made a trade for Kayshon Boutte from the New England Patriots as part of their efforts to bolster their receiving corps.
Currently, Tinsley joins Lewis Bond and Josh Kelly on the Texans' practice squad. His addition is seen as beneficial, especially given his performance during the preseason, which helped him secure a roster spot with the Bengals in 2025. Tinsley is described as a possession receiver with strong ball skills, despite lacking top-end speed and separation quickness.
