McKinney, Texas — A five-star offensive tackle with one of the most unique backgrounds in the 2027 recruiting class is headed to the Forty Acres. Ismael Camara, a 6-foot-5, 225-pound lineman from Gilmer, Texas, committed to the Texas Longhorns on July 4, choosing the Burnt Orange over Oregon, SMU, LSU, and Alabama.

Camara's path to becoming one of the most sought-after linemen in the country began in Le Mans, France, where he was born and raised. He relocated to the United States during his early high school years and picked up American football as a relative newcomer to the sport.

The 247Sports evaluation describes him as an elite prospect possessing a rare combination of high-end physical tools and functional athleticism, with a pro comparison to Miami Dolphins tackle Kadyn Proctor.

The recruitment was spearheaded by Texas offensive line coach Kyle Flood. Camara took three official visits in June, stopping at LSU on June 5, Texas on June 12, and Oregon on June 19. He played his first varsity season as a junior at Gilmer High School in 2025, seeing time at left tackle, along the defensive line, and on special teams.

Texas high school transfer rules had kept him at the sub-varsity level during his sophomore campaign in 2024.

In addition to football, Camara has competed in the shot put and discus, recording personal bests of 46-8.5 and 135-6. Scouting reports emphasize his above-average foot quickness for his size, his physical and tone-setting approach to the game, and his potential to play either tackle or guard at the collegiate level. Despite his limited experience, his upside is considered substantial.

The commitment marks another significant addition for Sarkisian's 2027 class, which has been building throughout the summer. Landing a five-star offensive lineman is particularly valuable in the Southeastern Conference, and Camara's pledge gives the Longhorns a player they can build the class around. He is expected to enroll at Texas in 2027.
