Game Progression
The Astros opened the scoring in the second inning. Jose Altuve homered to left-center in the fourth to cut the Houston lead to 3-1. However, the Rangers tied the game in the fifth when Adolis Garcia drove in a run on a Nimmo triple.
The Astros regained the lead in the seventh inning when Yordan Alvarez scored on a Paredes single, making it 4-2. Later in the same frame, Jose Altuve’s solo home run brought the Rangers within one run at 4-3.
The eighth inning saw both teams add runs. Josh Smith homered to left for Texas, tying the game at 4-4. Houston responded immediately as Yuli Gurriel homered to left, putting the Astros ahead 5-4. The Rangers tied it again in the bottom of the eighth when Josh Smith homered, leveling the score at 5-5. The game remained deadlocked until Nimmo’s ninth-inning single.
