Four-run third gives Texas control
Texas got the run it needed in the bottom of the third inning Wednesday, then turned the inning into a four-run breakaway in a 6-0 win over the San Francisco Giants at Globe Life Field. Langford scored when Nimmo singled to right, giving the Rangers a 1-0 lead. Foscue followed with a triple to left that brought in Nimmo and Burger for a 3-0 margin.
Díaz doubled to left to score Foscue, making it 4-0 before the inning ended.
The inning accounted for four of Texas' six runs. It also put Carson Whisenhunt in the loss column. Whisenhunt allowed five hits and four earned runs in 3 1/3 innings, with three walks and four strikeouts, and fell to 2-3.
Bradford, bullpen finish the shutout
Cody Bradford gave Texas 4 1/3 innings with five hits allowed, no earned runs, two walks and five strikeouts. Tyler Alexander earned the win, moving to 2-2, after pitching 1 2/3 hitless innings with no earned runs, no walks and three strikeouts.
Robby Ahlstrom worked one inning and allowed one hit while striking out one. Chase Silseth pitched one inning, allowing one hit and one walk with one strikeout. Cole Winn also pitched one inning, allowing one hit with no walks and no strikeouts. Texas pitchers held San Francisco to eight hits and no runs.
