Jake Burger provided the offensive spark for the Texas Rangers on Saturday, driving in three runs with a home run and a single to help secure a 5-4 win against the Seattle Mariners. The victory improved the Rangers’ record to 52-51, while Seattle fell to 51-53.

Burger’s impact began in the fourth inning when he launched a 362-foot home run to right field. The blast extended the Rangers’ lead to 3-1, as Adolis Duran crossed the plate to add another run. Burger continued his productive day in the sixth inning, singling to center field to score Jesse Winker.

He then advanced to second base after Julio Lopez executed a sacrifice bunt that brought Winker home, giving Texas a 5-3 advantage.

Mariners Fight Back

The Mariners kept pace with their own offensive bursts early in the contest. In the first inning, Josh Naylor homered to left field, measuring 384 feet, to give Seattle an early 1-0 lead. The teams tied the game in the second inning when Naylor’s teammate, Michael Young, singled to right field, driving in Naylor to make it 1-1.

Seattle regained the lead in the fifth inning when Randy Arozarena doubled to center field. The hit scored two runs, tying the game at 3-3 and then putting the Mariners ahead 5-3. However, the Rangers quickly answered in the sixth inning to retake the lead, as Burger’s single and Lopez’s sacrifice bunt provided the insurance runs that would prove critical later in the game.

Late Drama and Pitching Decisions

The game remained tight through the middle innings, with both bullpens working to maintain their respective leads. Seattle’s starting pitcher Bryce Miller took the loss after pitching 5.1 innings. Miller allowed six hits and five earned runs, striking out one batter while walking two.

He was supported by Eduard Bazardo, who pitched 0.2 innings with one strikeout, and Michael Rucker, who recorded two scoreless innings with three strikeouts.

For Texas, MacKenzie Gore started on the mound, throwing 5.0 innings with five strikeouts but allowing seven hits and three earned runs. Peyton Gray earned the win by pitching a perfect 1.0 inning with two strikeouts. Jakob Junis and Tyler Alexander combined for two scoreless innings to preserve the lead, with Cole Winn adding a brief appearance.

Jacob Latz secured the save in the ninth inning. The Mariners threatened late, but Latz struck out one batter in his 1.0 inning of work. The final out came after a wild pitch allowed a runner to score, but the Rangers held on for the 5-4 victory in front of 33,478 fans at Globe Life Field.
