Late Inning Heroics

Jakob Seager provided the decisive blow in the eighth inning, hitting a 396-foot home run to left center that extended the Texas Rangers' lead to 6-8. The play secured the final run for Arlington, giving the home side an 8-6 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday, September 6, 2026. The game was played at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, before a crowd of 33,285. This win improved the Rangers' record to 71-73, while the Rays fell to 85-58.

Scoring Sequence

The Rangers took an early lead in the second inning, scoring four runs to build a 4-0 advantage. Mesa Jr. singled to left, allowing Simpson to score and Mateo to reach third. Fortes followed with a bunt single to the pitcher, bringing in Mateo. Díaz then singled to center, scoring Mesa Jr., and Aranda hit a sacrifice fly to center, driving in Fortes. Jake Burger answered with a 402-foot home run to left center, cutting the deficit to 4-1.

In the fourth inning, the Rays tied the game at 5-5. Caminero hit a sacrifice fly to left, scoring Díaz. Burger then hit a 428-foot home run to center, driving in Langford for two runs.

Foscue doubled to right, scoring O'Hoppe and Duran to give Tampa Bay a 5-6 lead. The Rangers responded in the fifth with two runs, Díaz singling to center to score Burger, and Duran singling to right to score O'Hoppe.

Pitching Performance

Trevor Williams earned the win, pitching two scoreless innings with one walk. He was followed by Chase Silseth, who pitched one scoreless inning with one strikeout. Tyler Alexander pitched one inning, allowing one run on two hits. Jacob Latz pitched one scoreless inning with one strikeout, and Jakob Junis secured the save with one scoreless inning. For Tampa Bay, Ian Seymour started, pitching three innings and allowing five hits and three earned runs with one walk and two strikeouts. Steven Matz took the loss, pitching one inning and allowing three hits and two earned runs with one walk and one strikeout.
