Deciding Runs
The Chicago White Sox dismantled the Texas Rangers 10-4 on Wednesday, Aug. 26, at Rate Field. The decisive blow came in the bottom of the sixth inning when Doyle homered to left center. That 393-foot shot drove in both Murakami and B. Montgomery, extending Chicago's lead to 10-2. By the end of the game, the home club had scored 10 runs while the visitors managed four.
Offensive Surge
Chicago took an early 2-0 lead in the second inning. B. Montgomery doubled to right, scoring Meidroth. Doyle then singled to left, allowing Montgomery to score before Doyle was out at second. The Rangers tied the game in the third when Pederson homered to right center. The 394-foot drive sent Freeman over the plate. However, Chicago regained the lead in the fourth. Vargas reached on an infield single, scoring Peters. Antonacci followed with a single to left, driving in Vargas.
Home Run Power
The White Sox capitalized on home run power. Peters hit a two-run homer to right in the fifth inning, driving in Rogers. His 362-foot shot extended the lead to 6-2. In the sixth, Antonacci singled to left, scoring Vargas. Doyle’s three-run homer then capped the offensive outburst. The Rangers scored their final two runs in the seventh. Duran singled to center, driving in Langford and Nimmo.
Pitching and Records
Sean Newcomb earned the win for Chicago. He pitched 3.0 innings, allowing two hits and no earned runs while walking none and striking out one. Sean Burke started for Chicago, pitching 3.0 innings with two hits, two earned runs, eight walks, and three strikeouts. Jonathan Cannon recorded the save, pitching 3.0 innings with four hits, two earned runs, two walks, and four strikeouts. For Texas, MacKenzie Gore took the loss. He pitched 3.2 innings, allowing eight hits and four earned runs while walking four and striking out four. Chase Silseth pitched 1.0 inning with one hit, one earned run, one walk, and no strikeouts. Robby Ahlstrom pitched 1.0 inning with four hits, five earned runs, one walk, and no strikeouts. Peyton Gray pitched 1.1 innings with one hit, no earned runs, no walks, and one strikeout. Jakob Junis pitched 1.0 inning with one hit, no earned runs, no walks, and one strikeout. The White Sox improved to 70-63, while the Rangers fell to 66-68. Attendance was 16,038.
