Cleveland’s Offensive Surge
Three home runs fueled Cleveland Guardians’ 9-4 victory over the Texas Rangers at Progressive Field on Wednesday, July 1, 2026. The win improved Cleveland’s record to 45-42, while the Rangers dropped to 44-43.
The Guardians struck first in the second inning against Rangers starter MacKenzie Gore. After a sacrifice bunt advanced Rocchio, Arias scored. Gore then wild-pitched twice, allowing Arias to score again and bringing Hedges to third. Fry followed with a 380-foot home run to right center, driving in Hedges and Schneemann to give Cleveland a 5-0 lead.
Rangers Fight Back
The Rangers answered in the third inning. After a challenged call on the field was upheld, Higashioka walked, allowing Foscue to score. The Rangers added two more runs in the sixth inning. Díaz grounded out to second, scoring Higashioka, and Lopez’s double to left field brought Osuna home.
Díaz extended the Rangers’ lead in the eighth inning with a 402-foot home run to left center. Hedges responded immediately after, hitting a 400-foot home run to left center that also scored Watson, pushing Cleveland’s advantage to 9-4.
Guardians Add Insurance Runs
Cleveland added insurance runs in the seventh inning. DeLauter’s single to right field scored Kwan, and Hoskins walked, allowing DeLauter to score on a wild pitch by Winston Santos.
