Late Surge Secures Victory
The New York Mets delivered a decisive blow in the final frame, scoring four runs to secure a 7-2 victory over the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field on Thursday. The game featured three home runs, with the most impactful coming from Edouard Julien Baty’s pinch-hit grand slam that sealed the win.
The Mets took an early lead in the third inning when Juan Soto launched a two-run homer to right-center field, measuring 429 feet. This gave New York a 2-0 advantage that held until the fifth inning.
In the bottom of the fifth, the Rangers narrowed the gap with single runs scored by Hensley Meulens and Adolis Garcia, tying the game at 2-2 after a groundout advanced runners.
Pitching Performances
Nolan McLean earned the win for New York, pitching seven innings while allowing two earned runs on three hits. He struck out five batters and walked one, improving his record to 12-10. Devin Williams pitched the eighth inning with a perfect outing, recording one strikeout without allowing any hits or walks. Cionel Perez closed out the ninth before Baty’s slam, also pitching scorelessly.
For Texas, Cody Bradford took the loss after giving up two earned runs in 4.1 innings. He allowed four hits and one walk while striking out one batter. Tyler Alexander pitched 1.2 innings of hitless ball with one strikeout. Chase Silseth and Jacob Latz also contributed, with Latz allowing one run in 1.2 innings before the late collapse.
