Two-run second holds up
San Francisco created the lead it kept in the top of the second inning Tuesday, scoring twice before finishing a 5-1 win over the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field. The Giants went ahead when Gilbert singled to right and Susac scored on a fielding error by right fielder Nimmo, with Gilbert moving to third. Basabe followed with a sacrifice fly to right that brought in Gilbert for a 2-0 lead.
Lee adds power and insurance
Lee pushed the Giants’ lead to 3-0 in the top of the third with a 410-foot home run to right center. He added another homer in the top of the eighth, sending a 385-foot shot to right center for a 4-0 San Francisco advantage. In the top of the ninth, Lee drove in another run with a sacrifice fly to center, scoring McCray and making it 5-0. Lee accounted for three of San Francisco’s five runs driven in on the scoring plays.
Texas got its only run in the bottom of the ninth, when Duran homered to left for 406 feet. It was the third home run of the game, following Lee’s two solo shots.
Webb, Giants staff limit Texas
Logan Webb earned the win for San Francisco, moving to 7-7 after pitching six innings with five hits, no earned runs, one walk and eight strikeouts. Keaton Winn recorded his 12th hold after two-thirds of an inning with one hit, no walks and one strikeout. Sam Hentges added 1 1/3 innings with no hits, no earned runs, one walk and one strikeout for his seventh hold.
