Dominic Canzone and Alejandro Arozarena delivered back-to-back home runs in the seventh inning to break a tie and propel the Seattle Mariners to a 6-4 victory over the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Field. The decisive offensive burst came after a tightly contested matchup that saw both teams trade blows through the middle innings.
The Mariners took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning when Adolis Duran hit a sacrifice fly to center field, allowing Kyle Pederson to score. The Rangers responded in the third inning, tying the game at 1-1 when Nathaniel Lowe singled to left, allowing Josh Jung to score from second base. The Mariners regained the lead in the fourth inning with two runs.
Marcus Semien singled to right, scoring Evan Carter, and later Luis García reached on an infield single to second, allowing Carter to score from second base while Semien advanced to third.
Pitching Duels and Late Inning Drama
Starting pitcher Jacob deGrom worked five innings for Texas, allowing one earned run on seven hits while striking out four batters. He was supported by relievers Robby Ahlstrom, who pitched a scoreless inning with two strikeouts, and Ben Peoples, who also threw a hitless frame. However, the Rangers' bullpen struggled in the late innings.
Tyler Alexander and Cole Winn combined for four runs in less than one inning of work, with Winn taking the loss.
Logan Gilbert started for Seattle, pitching 5.2 innings and allowing three earned runs on five hits with four strikeouts. He was followed by Gabe Speier, who earned the win with 1.1 scoreless innings and three strikeouts.
