QuikTrip plans a new convenience store with fuel pumps on McKinney's west side, according to a project filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation on Thursday, Oct. 8.
The filing, listed as QuikTrip #1926, is at 1601 W. University Drive, the stretch of U.S. 380 west of downtown. It describes new construction of a 6,445-square-foot convenience store with retail gasoline sales, at an estimated cost of $850,000.
The schedule in the registration is a long one. Construction is estimated to start July 1, 2027, and finish Feb. 18, 2028, so the store is not expected to open for well over a year. Dates in these filings are estimates supplied by the project team and often shift.
Who is behind it
The owner listed on the filing is QT South LLC, with an address in Tulsa, Okla. The design firm is Daniel D. Filuk, Architect, of Phoenix. The state lists the project's status as "project registered."
The filing does not list the store's number of fuel pumps, its hours or whether the site needs any city zoning approvals; none of those details are part of the state registration.
