Wyatt Langford did not drive in a run Thursday and did not score one either. He still put two hits on the board in a 3-1 Rangers win that closed the home schedule and kept Texas tied for the AL West lead.
Per the CBS Sports box score, Langford finished 2-for-3 with a strikeout and was caught stealing once. In a game decided by two homers from teammates, his bat night showed up as contact and traffic on the bases rather than a number in the RBI column.
Two hits in a three-run offense
Texas scored three runs on seven hits against the New York Mets. Josh Jung's two-run homer in the first and Corey Seager's solo shot in the sixth accounted for all of them. Langford's contributions sat between those swings.
He singled in the second and was caught stealing before the inning produced anything else. In the sixth, after Seager's homer and a Jung walk, Jake Burger reached on a fielder's choice and Langford beat out an infield single that put two on before Ezequiel Duran's at-bat ended with Burger caught stealing.
Contact without a run attached - the kind of night that still fills a lineup card when the middle of the order is already carrying the scoring.
Langford also struck out looking in the fourth with Jung on second and Brandon Nimmo on first after a walk, one of the few Texas chances that died without a ball in play from the left fielder.
