The Houston Cougars established an insurmountable lead early in their 77-6 victory over the Southern Jaguars on Saturday at TDECU Stadium. The decisive momentum shifted in the first quarter, where Houston outscored the visitors 28-0. Conner Weigman, who finished the game with 120 passing yards on 9 of 12 attempts and three touchdowns, orchestrated the opening surge.

He connected with Patrick Overmyer for a nine-yard touchdown pass, followed later in the quarter by an eight-yard strike to Amare Thomas. Southern Jaguars’ only points of the game came in the third quarter when Wyatt McCauley found Wydell Clark Jr. for a 79-yard touchdown pass, though the extra point was blocked by Christopher McKenna.

The fourth quarter saw Houston add a final seven points, with Luke Carney rushing for an eight-yard touchdown. The final score was 77-6 in favor of the home team. Zane Smith led the Cougars on the ground with 69 rushing yards on 10 carries.
