McKinney law enforcement officials have taken two individuals into custody regarding a deadly shooting that occurred at a local apartment complex in June. The arrests follow the death of 19-year-old Jose Herberto Martin, who was found with a gunshot wound to the neck.
Daniel Chavira was apprehended on June 20. He has been formally charged with criminal conspiracy to commit capital murder. A separate arrest was made on July 1 involving a 16-year-old juvenile suspect. This individual faces a charge of capital murder in relation to the homicide.
The incident began when officers responded to the Larkin Apartments, located on West White Street, around 8:30 p.m. on June 19. Responders were called for a shots-fired report. Upon arrival, they discovered Martin inside a vehicle parked in the complex lot. He had sustained a gunshot wound to his neck.
Martin was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment but later died from his injuries. Police stated that their investigation into the shooting remains active. Officials confirmed that there are no other outstanding suspects currently linked to the case.
