McKinney police have arrested two individuals in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in June at a local apartment complex. The suspects, identified as Daniel Chavira and an unnamed 16-year-old juvenile, are being held on charges related to the death of 19-year-old Jose Herberto Martin.
Chavira was taken into custody on June 20 and formally charged with criminal conspiracy to commit capital murder. The juvenile suspect was arrested on July 1 and faces a charge of capital murder. Law enforcement officials stated that the investigation into the incident is complete regarding suspects, with no other individuals currently sought in connection with the crime.
The incident began around 8:30 p.m. on June 19, when officers responded to a report of shots fired at the Larkin Apartments located on West White Street. Upon arrival, responders discovered Martin inside a vehicle parked in the complex lot. He had sustained a gunshot wound to the neck.
Martin was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment but later died from his injuries. Police have not released further details regarding the circumstances leading to the shooting or the motive behind the attack.
