A 16-year-old suspect has been arrested and charged with capital murder in connection with a fatal shooting at a McKinney apartment complex, according to the McKinney Police Department. The arrest occurred last week, though the department has not released the juvenile’s name due to their age.

The incident took place around 8:30 p.m. on June 19 in the parking lot of the Larkin Apartments, located at 2301 W. White Street. Officers responded to reports of shots fired and discovered 19-year-old Jose Herberto Martin inside a vehicle. Martin had sustained a gunshot wound to the neck and was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Daniel Chavira was previously arrested on June 20 and charged with criminal conspiracy to commit capital murder in relation to the same case. Police officials stated that there are no other outstanding suspects linked to the murder.

The investigation remains active as detectives continue to review evidence related to the shooting. Further details regarding the juvenile suspect’s court proceedings or additional charges have not been provided.
