Aidan Curry, a 23-year-old pitcher for the Texas Rangers organization, delivered a dominant performance during his sixth start with Double-A Frisco, striking out 11 batters in 5.2 innings against Midland. The outing, which contributed to a Riders victory, marked the first time Curry reached double-digit strikeouts in a single game this season and established a new personal high for the year.
Frisco is located approximately 12 miles west of McKinney.
The performance served as a strong conclusion to a month of gradual improvement for Curry. He began his time with the RoughRiders on May 26 with a difficult debut against Arkansas, where he allowed seven earned runs and four walks in just three innings, leaving with a 21.00 earned run average.
However, Curry steadily reduced his run support over subsequent starts, allowing six earned runs on June 2, three on June 9, two on June 16, three on June 23, and two on June 30.
By the end of June, Curry had completed five starts with a 2-1 record and a 5.14 ERA. He struck out 34 batters while issuing eight walks across 28 innings, holding opponents to a .236 batting average. Notably, he pitched at least five innings in each of his last four outings, including two starts of at least six innings.
This durability contrasts with his previous tenure at High-A Hub City, where he had only two starts of five or more innings prior to his promotion.
