McKinney North remains perfect in district play, improving to 8-0 with a sweep of rival Lovejoy. The Lady Bulldogs secured the victory behind strong performances from junior Anna Sayman and sophomore Ella McNeal.
Sayman recorded 17 kills and hit .485 for the match, averaging 5.7 kills per set. This result marked only the second time in program history that North swept the perennial powerhouse Lady Leopards. McNeal contributed nine kills, eight digs, and 16 assists as North claimed its seventh consecutive district sweep.
The win gives McKinney North a one-game lead over Celina at 7-1 in the 9-5A standings. Lovejoy sits in third place at 6-2. Meanwhile, Celina maintained second place by sweeping Melissa 3-0, extending their winning streak to eight games.
In the 6-5A division, Frisco Reedy moved into sole possession of first place after defeating rival Frisco Lone Star. The Lady Lions improved to 4-0 in district play. Sophomore Rhys Walker led the offense with 13 kills, while senior Bree Benningfield added nine. Four other hitters reached at least seven kills in the victory.
Prosper Richland dropped to second place at 4-1 after suffering its first district loss. The Lady Bobcats fell 3-1 to Denton Ryan. In another 6-5A contest, Denton defeated Frisco Panther Creek 3-1.
