A new memorial sign honoring a McKinney motorcyclist who died in March was unveiled at Honda Cars of McKinney during a community event on Sunday. The gathering, part of the dealership’s first Cars & Coffee series, served as both a tribute to Kylar Creason and a call for drivers to exercise caution on local roads.
Creason, 21, lost his life on March 13 when a vehicle turning near U.S. 75 struck his motorcycle just outside the dealership. His mother, Ashlie Swindell, spent the morning placing flowers and toys around the new sign located near the highway’s frontage road. The plaque features an illustration of an ape on a motorcycle, a design chosen to reflect Creason’s first tattoo.
Dealership manager John Edwards stated that several staff members witnessed the collision as it happened. Upon learning that Creason was connected to the business, Edwards and his team organized the memorial to support Swindell and her family. Edwards noted that while the gesture could not change the outcome, it was an attempt to provide assistance during a difficult time.
Swindell attended the event with her 8-year-old daughter, Blakeleigh. She wore a silver necklace containing a black pendant that Creason had been wearing at the time of the crash. Swindell expressed pride in the community of friends her son built and emphasized that he was known for his compassion and loyalty.
The Sunday event drew a variety of vehicles, including Chevrolet Corvettes, Toyota Supras, and Porsche Spyders. Swindell observed motorcycles arriving in the parking lot, identifying several belonging to Creason’s coworkers and friends. She remarked that her son would have enjoyed the gathering and likely stayed for its duration.
