A 16-year-old suspect has been arrested and charged with capital murder in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred at a McKinney apartment complex last month, according to the McKinney Police Department. Authorities stated that the juvenile was taken into custody last week.
Police have not released the identity of the minor suspect due to their age. In a separate development, Daniel Chavira was arrested on June 20 and charged with criminal conspiracy to commit capital murder. Officials confirmed that there are no other outstanding suspects linked to the homicide.
The investigation remains active as detectives continue to review evidence gathered at the scene. The McKinney Police Department noted that the case is still under active review.
Officers responded to a report of shots fired around 8:30 p.m. on June 19 in the vicinity of the Larkin Apartments, located at 2301 W. White Street. Upon arrival, they found 19-year-old Jose Herberto Martin inside a vehicle in the complex parking lot.
Martin was suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck. Emergency responders transported him to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
