McKinney Police have arrested a second individual in connection with a fatal street racing crash that occurred on July 17 at the intersection of Custer Road and Bedford Lane. Authorities identified the new suspect as 22-year-old Braydon Moss.
Moss was taken into custody on Tuesday and faces two counts of racing on a highway resulting in injury or death. These charges are classified as second-degree felonies. Police stated that Moss was racing against 51-year-old James Armont at the time of the collision.
Armont was previously arrested on July 21 and charged with two counts of manslaughter. He was the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash. The collision resulted in the deaths of 77-year-old William Lazarus and 77-year-old Sandra Lazarus, who were passengers in a silver Hyundai minivan.
The Lazarus couple were active members of the community, with Allen ISD confirming they had worked at schools within the district. A growing memorial has been established to honor their lives. The family declined to speak with reporters regarding the incident.
Residents living near the intersection have expressed concern about traffic safety. Mariela Barnett, who has lived near the site for over 20 years, stated that she frequently hears speeding and racing on the road. She believes a stoplight should be installed to prevent future accidents. Barnett noted that she knew a crash was inevitable given the conditions.
