Universal Kids Resort has officially opened its doors in Frisco, prompting nearby commercial operators to adjust their strategies for sustained economic expansion. Rather than relying solely on immediate visitor traffic, business owners in the area are betting on the attraction to catalyze long-term growth for the region.
The Brunch District, a restaurant that opened approximately one month ago, is situated just down the road from the new theme park. Management at the establishment is strategically leveraging its proximity to one of North Texas’s newest tourist destinations to drive customer flow. Christian Navarro, the restaurant’s manager, noted that while daily volume fluctuates, weekends see stronger performance.
He anticipates that as more travelers discover the area, overall traffic will increase significantly.
Navarro, who has resided in Frisco for nine years, has observed a dramatic transformation of the local landscape. He recalled a time when the area consisted largely of open land, dirt roads, and narrow two-lane streets. Today, that same corridor is recognized as one of the fastest-growing regions in North Texas.
Despite the current pace being slower than some initial projections, Navarro remains optimistic about the future, citing the combination of nearby attractions like The Fields and PGA Frisco alongside the new resort as a strong foundation for success.
Rapid commercial and residential development often raises concerns regarding road congestion. However, Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney stated that city officials addressed potential traffic issues well before the resort’s debut. According to Cheney, the city’s engineering team completed necessary infrastructure upgrades in advance of the opening.
