McKinney ISD has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada for its 2025 annual comprehensive financial report, the most recent year the organization evaluated. It is the 10th consecutive year the district has earned the award, announced by the district on July 15.
The certificate is the highest recognition GFOA grants in governmental accounting and financial reporting. The honor recognizes the district's Annual Comprehensive Financial Report, which was submitted to the Texas Education Agency and to GFOA last year and judged by an impartial panel against the program's standards, including demonstrating a constructive "spirit of full disclosure" so that readers can clearly follow the district's financial story.
"We always strive to keep our community informed," said McKinney ISD Chief Financial Officer Marlene Harbeson. "The GFOA recognition is an indicator of our success in that endeavor, and the district is proud to receive this award for the 10th year in a row. It's a testament to the dedication of our staff and the district's commitment to excellence and transparency."
