Erwin Park in McKinney is set to undergo a significant renovation that will introduce new amenities, enhance accessibility, and upgrade existing facilities. To ensure the safety and efficiency of the construction process, the park will close to the public on August 10.

Upon completion of the project, visitors will have access to an overlook tower, new restrooms, and pavilions. The renovation also includes updated playground equipment and improvements to ensure ADA accessibility. Additional features will include a new concrete inner-loop trail, resurfaced roads and parking lots, and the installation of water and electrical service at campsites.

The city has acknowledged the importance of Erwin Park to the community and expressed appreciation for residents' patience during the construction period. The park is expected to reopen in the fall of 2027, contingent on unforeseen construction delays not occurring.

Residents seeking information on the progress of the renovation can find project updates posted on the city's website at McKinneyParks.org/Projects. The announcement was published on July 24, 2026, alongside other Parks and Recreation updates, including events such as a Back-To-School Creative Workshop and Hawaiian Night.
