The City of McKinney has announced plans to spray two designated areas to control mosquitoes after testing confirmed the presence of West Nile Virus in local mosquito pools. The spraying operations are scheduled for Thursday, August 6, and Friday, August 7. Work will take place between the hours of 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., contingent on weather conditions.
The first area targeted is a one-mile radius around 10302 JFK Boulevard on Thursday, August 6. The following day, Friday, August 7, spraying will occur within a one-mile radius around 2800 Barnsley Signs. To ensure residents are aware of the activity, signs will be posted at major intersections in these zones.
Residents living within the spray areas are advised to remain indoors and bring pets inside during the designated time frames. For those who prefer not to have spraying occur near their homes, the City of McKinney Health Compliance office can be contacted at 972-547-7447. This announcement follows a previous news release indicating that mosquito spraying had been postponed to August 11 and 12.
