McKinney Library Cancels Family Storytime Events Through November

The McKinney Public Library System has cancelled all scheduled Family Storytime events for all ages. The cancellations affect the series held at Old Settler's Recreation Center, which was planned to run from September 19 through November 28, 2026.

The library system stated that the Roy & Helen Hall Memorial library is currently closed for renovations. While holds and returns are available at the John & Judy Gay Library and McKinney City Hall, in-person programming at the recreation center has been suspended.

The cancelled events were scheduled for Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. The original program description indicated that sessions would feature a welcome song, mystery box stories, songs, activities, and bubbles. The stated goals for the series included enhancing literacy, fostering community involvement, and increasing use of the library collection.

Registration for these events had previously closed. The system noted that by attending such events, participants consent to their voice, name, or likeness being used in promotional materials without compensation.

Residents seeking library services during this period are directed to the John & Judy Gay Library or McKinney City Hall for holds and returns. Other resources, including interlibrary loans, book clubs, and business center access, remain available through the system's other locations or online platforms.
