The City of McKinney has released an update on its current parks and recreation development projects. The announcement outlines the status, scope, and timeline for various improvements across the city's park system. Project dates are subject to change, and residents with questions are directed to email Parks Development.
Current Project Statuses
Several projects are currently under construction. The Gabe Nesbitt Master Plan includes a new four-field softball complex, concession and restroom buildings, additional parking, trail connections, and a new irrigated practice field. The McKinney Soccer Complex at Craig Ranch is also under construction, featuring the conversion of four fields to synthetic turf, new sod and irrigation on three grass fields, and updated entrance features.
The Recreation Center at Towne Lake Park has completed interior renovations, including new restrooms, a reception area, weight room, classrooms, and offices. Similarly, the Light Walk at Towne Lake Park is complete, featuring a concrete trail with decorative lighting. The Dog Park and Play Zone at Towne Lake Park is also finished, offering a splash zone, shade structures, and sports courts.
Projects in Design
Multiple projects are in the design phase. Al Ruschhaupt Soccer Complex will add a connecting park road and additional parking. Erwin Park is slated for significant upgrades, including a new overlook tower, restrooms with showers, new pavilions with electrical outlets, and improved campsite utilities.
