Event Details

The McKinney Public Library System is hosting a Video Game Trivia event designed for students in grades 6 through 12. The event is scheduled for Friday, August 21, 2026, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Participants will test their knowledge of consoles, games, characters, and lore spanning the past four decades in a competitive format. The schedule includes welcome instructions from 6:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m., the trivia game from 6:45 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and prize distribution from 8:00 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.

The event takes place at the John and Judy Gay Library. Attendees are advised that they may be picked up by parents or guardians between 8:15 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. The library notes that while the event is listed as in-person, it is also described as an online event where a URL will be sent via email upon registration confirmation.

Registration is required to attend. There are 34 seats available for this session. Participants must select the number of attendees when registering through the library’s Libcal system. The city requires that registrants consent to having their voice, name, and likeness used in promotional materials without compensation by attending.

The Roy & Helen Hall Memorial library remains closed for renovations. Holds and returns can currently be processed at the John and Judy Gay Library or at McKinney City Hall. Residents seeking more information about library services or other events may visit the McKinney Public Library website.
