Baylor defensive tackle Devonte Tezino is expected to miss the rest of the season because of a leg injury sustained during the Bears' win over Prairie View A&M on Saturday.

Tezino became a key part of Baylor's defensive front early in the season. He registered two sacks against Auburn, and coach Dave Aranda later described him as likely the team's top interior defensive lineman.

Aranda said Baylor will miss Tezino and expressed sympathy for the work the player had invested in reaching that point. The injury leaves the Bears relying more heavily on their remaining linemen, including Braylen Jackson.

Jackson has demonstrated strength against the run and could receive additional opportunities. Aranda said Jackson plays with physicality, creates movement at the line and gives Baylor confidence in run-defense situations.

Baylor entered the season with its defensive line viewed as a major strength, but Tezino's absence will put more pressure on the unit's depth. The Bears also lost senior safety Jacob Redding to a torn ACL before opening the season against Auburn.
