Baylor quarterback DJ Lagway will not play against Louisiana Tech because of an ankle injury, but a report says he could return for the Bears’ Big 12 opener against Colorado on Sept. 26.

Pete Nakos of On3 Sports reported that Lagway is on track to play against Colorado and head coach Deion Sanders’ Buffaloes. The report does not confirm that he will be available for that game.

Lagway sustained the injury during Baylor’s season-opening 17-16 loss to Auburn. The injury has been described as a high-ankle sprain.

The junior quarterback also missed Baylor’s Week 2 game, a 44-3 victory over Prairie View A&M. Baylor previously identified him as day to day, while a report said he had been attempting to play through the injury.

Lagway’s status beyond the Louisiana Tech game remains not yet clear. ClutchPoints reported the update, citing information from Nakos and On3 Sports.
