Baylor quarterback DJ Lagway is listed as doubtful for Saturday's matchup with Louisiana Tech as he continues recovering from an ankle injury suffered in the season opener against Auburn. The junior quarterback missed Baylor's Week 2 game against Prairie View A&M.
Coach Dave Aranda said earlier in the week that Lagway took part in the team's Monday walkthrough and would be assessed based on his practices. Baylor's final injury report before the Louisiana Tech game, however, included him with a doubtful designation.
The report did not indicate that Lagway is expected to miss an extended period. On3's Pete Nakos reported that Baylor hopes to have him available for its Big 12 opener against Colorado next Saturday. Whether Lagway could play in an emergency against Louisiana Tech was not clear.
Nate Bennett is listed first on Baylor's quarterback depth chart in Lagway's absence. The junior backup made his first start against Prairie View and completed 26 of 34 passes for 314 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran for 13 yards and a score, while throwing two interceptions.
Edward Griffin is listed as the second quarterback, followed by Quinn Murphy. Louisiana Tech's only game against an FBS opponent this season was a loss to LSU.
