The Houston Texans' offense has been a focal point throughout the offseason, particularly with starting quarterback C.J. Stroud drawing significant attention. However, concerns have emerged regarding the wide receiver position, specifically about Tank Dell's readiness to start.
Jonathan M. Alexander from the Houston Chronicle reports that Dell is not expected to be available for the first game of the season. Although he began practicing in a limited capacity during the second week of training camp, he has not participated in media-viewable practices for the last three days.
While two sources indicated he has not experienced a setback, Dell is still not practicing daily, and it appears unlikely he will play in the Texans' final preseason game.
As the Texans approach their opener on September 13, the uncertainty surrounding Dell may necessitate the team to carry seven wide receivers on their 53-man roster instead of the usual six. With Jayden Higgins sidelined due to an ACL injury, the team is exploring other options for the No. 2 receiver position alongside Nico Collins.
Candidates include Xavier Hutchinson, who showed improvement last season, and Jaylin Noel, who demonstrated playmaking abilities.
