Gabriel Brooks announced Sept. 17 that he had switched his commitment from Stephen F. Austin to TCU, giving the Horned Frogs another member of their 2027 recruiting class. Brooks said conversations with his family and personal prayer guided the decision, which he also characterized as a way to stay near home.
The North Crowley offensive tackle is listed at 6 feet 5 inches and 265 pounds. His offers had largely come from Football Championship Subdivision schools, including Stephen F. Austin and Southern University. TCU represents his first offer from a Football Bowl Subdivision program, and Brooks selected the chance to compete in a Power Four conference.
North Crowley began the season 3-0 with victories over Aledo, Southlake Carroll and Summer Creek, which is from the Houston area. The Panthers are set to visit Duncanville at 7 p.m. Friday. Brooks is the 19th commitment in TCU’s 2027 class, which sports.yahoo.com reported is ranked No. 54 nationally and No. 8 in the Big 12.
