Decisive eighth inning
The outcome of Wednesday’s contest was largely decided in the eighth inning, where the Texas Rangers mounted a five-run rally that proved insurmountable for the Los Angeles Angels. With the score tied 3-3, the Rangers broke the deadlock in the bottom of the frame. Josh Smith singled to left field, driving in one run to make it 4-3.
He advanced to third base on the play.
The momentum continued as Osuna singled to left, scoring Smith to extend the lead to 5-3. The inning culminated with Osuna hitting a 364-foot home run to right field. The blast scored both Smith and the runner on second, adding three more runs to the board and pushing the final margin to 8-3.
Early exchanges
The game began with the Angels taking an early 2-0 lead in the first inning. Soler doubled to left, allowing Schanuel to score. Lowe followed with a single to center, bringing Soler home. However, the Rangers responded in the second inning. Lopez singled to left, which allowed Carter and Osuna to score, tying the game at 2-2. Lopez remained at second base.
The tie remained intact until the seventh inning. Meckler singled to left, scoring Peraza to give Texas a 3-2 advantage. The Angels quickly answered when Foscue homered to left (387 feet), leveling the score at 3-3 and setting the stage for the dramatic eighth inning.
