McKinney's Parks, Recreation and Open Space Advisory Board will consider a recommendation Thursday, Oct. 8, on a construction contract for renovations at Wattley Park.
City staff recommends A&C Construction Inc. for a $2,049,500 contract, with a $102,500 contingency bringing the proposed maximum authorization to $2,152,000. The city received 16 bids on Aug. 20.
The proposed work includes a new basketball court and playground structures, improvements to an existing pavilion and parking, an additional pavilion, and a trail around the park's open space.
According to the staff report, the design was completed in 2023 and the project was held until stream-bank stabilization work at the park could be completed. The renovation is listed in the 2026–27 capital program with funding from the McKinney Community Development Corporation and 2023 bond dollars.
The board meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall Council Chambers, 401 E. Virginia St. The item asks the board to recommend a construction resolution to City Council; it does not represent an awarded contract.
