Seventeen McKinney polling sites open Tuesday as McKinney ISD's $500 million bond and tax-rate questions go to voters

Collin County lets voters use any of its 90 Election Day sites from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Eight of the 17 in McKinney were not early-voting sites, including Boyd and McKinney North high schools.

McKinney voters who did not cast a ballot early have 17 places in the city to do it on Tuesday, Nov. 3, and those who live in McKinney ISD will find five school district propositions on the ballot.

Collin County runs vote centers, so a registered voter in the county can go to any of its Election Day sites, not just one near home. The county's election data lists 90 for Tuesday. Texas polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Sites in McKinney

Nine McKinney locations were also early-voting sites:

  • McKinney City Hall, Fitzhugh Event Hall, 401 E. Virginia St.
  • Collin County Elections voting room, 2010 Redbud Blvd.

Eight more open on Election Day only:

  • McKinney North High School auditorium lobby, 2550 Wilmeth Road
  • Dowell Middle School gym hallway, 301 S. Ridge Road

The school district questions

Proposition A asks voters to ratify McKinney ISD's tax rate of $1.0664 per $100 of taxable value. The ballot language says that rate brings a 4.4222% increase in maintenance and operations revenue over last year, or $9,142,763.

The other four are bonds that together total $500 million:

  • Proposition B, $430.95 million, for building, renovating and equipping school facilities, buying sites, and buses and other vehicles.
  • Proposition C, $62 million, for instructional technology equipment.
  • Proposition D, $4.5 million, for work on the existing McKinney High School training pool.
  • Proposition E, $2.55 million, for existing stadium facilities.

Each is a separate yes-or-no choice, and only voters who live within McKinney ISD's boundaries will see them.

What to bring

Voters need one of the state's accepted photo IDs, such as a Texas driver's license, a Texas Election Identification Certificate or a U.S. passport, according to the county's elections FAQ. A voter who does not have one and cannot reasonably get one can sign a Reasonable Impediment Declaration and show a supporting document.

Someone who has an accepted ID but forgets it can vote a provisional ballot and has six calendar days after the election to show it to the voter registrar.

Mail ballots may be dropped off in person only on Election Day, by the voter, at the early voting clerk's office, Suite 102 at 2010 Redbud Blvd. The county must receive them by 7 p.m.
