McKinney, Texas — A five-star offensive tackle from Gilmer, Ismael Camara, committed to the Texas Longhorns on July 4, providing a major lift to the 2027 recruiting class. The 247Sports Composite ranks him as the No. 20 overall prospect and the No. 3 tackle in the class.

The 6-foot-6, 340-pound Camara chose Texas from a list of ten finalists including Alabama, Auburn, Kentucky, LSU, Ohio State, Oregon, SMU, Tennessee, and Texas A&M. A native of France who moved to East Texas, he collected roughly forty offers after his first varsity football season.

Camara is commitment No. 22 for the Longhorns 2027 group and the fifth offensive lineman, adding to a class under the guidance of Kyle Flood that ranks No. 4 nationally.

Evaluators highlight Camara's prototype size, movement skills, and flexibility despite limited varsity reps. He played left tackle, defensive line, and special teams in 2025 and is set for an expanded role as a senior this fall.

The commitment keeps Texas in the top five of the national team rankings for 2027, with the program having recently added four-star cornerback Brandon Sherrard on July 1.
