McKinney ISD has made its 2025–2026 McKinney Accountability System report available to the public. The document offers a detailed overview of district performance and progress, focusing on educational outcomes that the local community has identified as priorities.
The McKinney Accountability System operates as a Community-Based Accountability System (CBAS). It was developed with input from students, parents, educators, and community members to provide a broader perspective on district activities than state ratings alone. While state accountability ratings track student performance on standardized tests, this local system examines additional indicators that reflect community expectations.
Superintendent Shawn Pratt emphasized that the system allows the district to evaluate how well it serves students beyond single-test scores. He stated that the approach provides transparency and accountability regarding outcomes the community values most. The development of this framework began in fall 2023 as part of the district’s Strategic Plan and its collaboration with the Texas Public Accountability Consortium (TPAC).
District officials gathered data through community surveys, stakeholder committees, and direct conversations with various groups to determine which areas were most critical for a high-quality education. These priorities now form the foundation of the indicators used in the report. The metrics align with the goals and strategies outlined in the McKinney ISD Strategic Plan.
The annual report is designed to track performance over time by reporting on the same community-defined indicators each year. This method allows the district to celebrate strengths and identify areas for growth. The result is intended to present a more complete story of the district, incorporating multiple measures while keeping focus on educational outcomes and community values.
