The North Texas Municipal Water District has registered a $57.5 million pump station building in north McKinney with the state, according to a filing posted Friday, Nov. 6.
The project, listed as the Northeast McKinney Pump Station Phase I Facilities, is at 3701 Redbud Blvd. The registration with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, which reviews public and commercial buildings for accessibility, describes a new 17,340-square-foot building that would house a pump room, a switchgear room, SCADA controls, electrical and storage space, and a fire riser room.
The filing puts the estimated cost at $57,454,655 and marks the project as one that uses public funds. It lists a start date of Oct. 14, 2024, and a completion date of June 4, 2027. CDM Smith of Dallas is named as the design firm.
The registration does not describe which customers the station will serve, how much water it will move or what later phases would include. Under state rules cited in the filing, the owner must have the finished building inspected for accessibility within a year after construction ends.
Part of a larger spending plan
The water district, based in Wylie, supplies treated water, wastewater and solid waste services to cities across the region through wholesale rates. In late September its board approved a $978 million budget for fiscal 2027, an 8% increase, and the district said it expects to invest about $5 billion in its systems from 2026 through 2031, including $3.4 billion for the regional water system.
