McKinney ISD has released its 2025–2026 McKinney Accountability System report. The document offers a detailed review of district performance and progress, focusing on educational outcomes that local stakeholders have identified as top priorities.
The report is part of the district’s Community-Based Accountability System, or CBAS. This framework was developed with input from students, parents, educators, and community members to provide a broader view of district activities than state standardized test scores alone. While state ratings measure performance on specific assessments, the local system adds additional indicators that reflect community expectations.
Superintendent Shawn Pratt stated that the community has emphasized that student success involves more than a single test. "The McKinney Accountability System allows us to look more comprehensively at how we are serving students, where we are making progress and where we have opportunities to improve," Pratt said. He added that the system provides transparency regarding the outcomes the community values most.
Development of this system began in fall 2023 as part of the district’s Strategic Plan and its collaboration with the Texas Public Accountability Consortium. Through surveys, stakeholder committees, and direct conversations with various groups, the district identified the areas considered most important for a high-quality education.
These priorities now form the basis of the indicators used in the system, aligning with the goals outlined in the district’s strategic plan.
