Lyft will provide a 50% discount on qualifying rides, bike trips and scooter trips to polling places across the Dallas-Fort Worth area on Nov. 3. The savings will be limited to $10, and riders can use the code VOTE26 between 5 a.m. and 10 p.m. Dallas is about 31 miles south of McKinney.
The county website says Dallas County polling locations are set to be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Lyft’s offer applies through Lyft Up Voting Access, which the company describes as a nonpartisan program. Lyft representative Sabiha Nur said the company has provided free or discounted transportation for presidential, midterm and certain runoff elections.
Nur said nearly 4 million people have used Lyft for trips to polling places, ballot delivery and voter registration or related events. During this election cycle, Lyft is working with the League of Women Voters, National Coalition for Homeless Veterans and Students Learn Students Vote Coalition.
The company said those groups’ work is aimed at helping older voters, people with disabilities, students, veterans and lower-income communities facing transportation barriers.
