Erwin Park to close Aug. 10 for major renovation project

Erwin Park in McKinney will close on Aug. 10 to begin a major renovation project. The city stated that the closure is necessary to allow construction to proceed safely and efficiently. The park is expected to reopen in fall 2027, barring unforeseen construction delays.

The renovation aims to transform the park with new amenities, improved accessibility, and upgraded facilities. Upon completion, visitors will have access to an overlook tower, new restrooms, and pavilions. The project also includes updated playground equipment and ADA accessibility improvements.

Infrastructure upgrades are part of the scope of work. The project will feature a new concrete inner-loop trail, resurfaced roads, and resurfaced parking lots. Additionally, water and electrical service will be installed at campsites.
